Protestschreiben bringen doch nichts! Oder?
Nun aber der Hammer:
Greetings from IRanian Queer Organization:
We informed you last week of the happy news that Kamal was officially recognized as a refugee by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Unfortunately, we cannot offer you news of the same nature with respect to his partner, Reza. On July 22, 2008, UNHCR rejected Reza’s case (385-06C03012), denying him official recognition as a refugee. We do not have detailed information about their decision, as such is privileged and not available for third party inquiries. Reza will have a chance to appeal this decision with the aid of a different UNHCR legal officer. We should urge UNHCR on appeal to recognize Reza as a refugee. The other option is for us to request UNHCR to present Kamal to the Canadian Embassy in Ankara for resettlement purposes. Then Kamal can apply for Reza as his common law partner. We intend to keep you informed about this important queer Iranian refugee case. Once again, thank you for your continued support.
